Teacher & Students Feedback Forms

Information Statement

Name of Project: Embedding the Development and Grading of Generic Skills in the Business Curriculum.

You are invited to participate in a study that evaluates the teaching and learning of generic skills, such as team work, critical thinking, ethical practice and sustainability, in the business curriculum. The purpose of the study is to establish what aspects of generic skill assessment activities are beneficial for your future career in business. Your feedback in this study will inform the development of further interesting, professionally-relevant and useful learning and assessment tasks involving these graduate skills.

The study is being conducted by Dr. Leigh Wood (contact: +61 2 98504576 , Leigh.Wood@mq.edu.au) and Associate Prof. Peter Petocz (contact: +61 2 98509174 , Peter.Petocz@mq.edu.au) from the Faculty of Business and Economics at Macquarie University in conjunction with the Australian Catholic University, Edith Cowan University, University of Canberra, La Trobe University, University of Southern Queensland, and the University of Tasmania. Part of this research is being conducted to meet the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy under the supervision of Dr. Leigh Wood.

If you decide to participate, you will be asked to provide feedback regarding your perceptions of one or more of the learning activities you have experience with, either as a student or a teacher. On a 5-point Likert scale, from “not at all” to “very much”, you will be asked to reflect on your teaching/learning experience, with regards to effectiveness and usefulness of the learning activity and the promotion of generic skills.

No personal details will be gathered or are required in the course of the study. No individual will be identified in any publication of the results, as the study is strictly anonymous. A summary of the results of the data can be made available to you on request. Please contact any of the above researchers and the results will be made available to you.

Participation in this study is entirely voluntary: you are not obliged to participate and if you decide to participate, you are free to withdraw at any time without having to give a reason and without consequence.

The ethical aspects of this study have been approved by the Macquarie University Ethics Review Committee (Human Research).  If you have any complaints or reservations about any ethical aspect of your participation in this research, you may contact the Ethics Review Committee through the Director, Research Ethics (telephone 9850 7854; email ethics@mq.edu.au).  Any complaint you make will be treated in confidence and investigated, and you will be informed of the outcome.
